I have been selected to take part in the Hardware Zone Nokia Guru program so I get to test out the latest gadgets from Nokia directly. I applaud Nokia for wanting to reach out to the masses. The first phone that I am trying out is the Nokia E90. Sleek and packed with lots of functions. I blog directly at Hardware Zone but do not expect super technical information from me but rather look out for ways to make the most out of this phone. It does not retail cheap but I guess it is really useful for those on the go.

Wow, that’s all I can say about the M1 3G broadband service, It’s cool, imagine internet everywhere and anywhere. I do not really mind the cost at least the coverage is better then the Wireless @ SG. So I’m writing this blog post and sending the message via the 3G networks.

Well now at least I know that I can access the Internet where I want and when I want. But I’m not sure if I should continue to use the 3G service via my DoPod or make use of the Vodafone Mobile Connect Modem with my Mac. Oh for the Mac users the file to run it off your pretty MacBook Pros and Macs is available @ the Vodafone Site.

Drivers for Vodafone Mobile Connect Modem available via Vodafone.com

I have finally gotten myself a new Laptop and it is the new MacBook pro, also blogging will be changing because the new skin I am customising will only support certain dimensions of my image, will put up a Flikr for those who want a slightly higher resolution images. I’m blogging this on my new 15.4″ MacBook Pro. :)

The sale was crazy with everyone trying to pick up a new item, it was suppose to be a closed door even for UOB card holders, and yeah I manage to queue at the front, went in took a form and filled it in and went to the counter to make my purchase, was the 5th in line to get a MacBook Pro and Angie Dear thanks for coming down with me to get the lappie. After standing in line I was quite shocked barely 5 minutes and the queue was astronomical, everyone was snapping up products like there was no tomrrow, actually it is tomrrow already.

The experience of the sale was notthing pleasent this lady was horrible as we stood at the shutters waiting to go in, the staff opened the shutter next to ours, this lady in stripes had the cheek to even squeeze in front of us even as we waited to get into Apple@Orchard. The aunty in front of us was amazed at her “politeness” as we were, even in the queue she had the cheek to try to squeeze in front of Angie. Anyway after come taunting she moved off and joined the end of the queue, probably doing some damage control instead of have us blabber on about her jump the queue.

Got some lame freebies, but well it’s free but the mouse pad is nice and hehe need to look for a new mouse for my new baby, OSx seems nice and tomorrow going to go get RAM for my MacBook Pro, 2Gigs men need it for virtulization. Aluminium feels good but does not seem light. Okie now it’s getting late gonna up some images for you guys before heading to bed.

MacBook Pro, wonder what I should call her.

This is one pretty neat invention, aparrantly Singapore has again tried to move into a new fuel market. Biodiesel, imagine the deep fried foods that do into the deep fryer. After this cooking oil is contaminated with food, it can be processed and made into Biodiesel(B100). It can then be used on diesel vehicles without modification and from what I read, it seems that the properties of this new fuel can allow better efficiency as well as clean up the engine system.

But Biodiesel is only avaiable in TUAS, so for those who wish to make use of this new fuel well you’ve gotta head down the south of Singapore for now, till then hope that diesel prices continue to remain at the current point.

Oh and I guess Singapore you should also start to reconsider allowing diesel vehicles to be sold in Singapore and allow us to conserve the environment eh?

Wouldn’t it be great if exhaust fumes smelt like Fish and Chips? Just Kidding

Okay, away from all the J2EE for a little while, I just heard from a friend about the MacBook that is not available online, what I want to say is, I like what I see. Looking for a notebook these few weeks and all I can see is that the entry level Celerons catch my eye because it’s what I essentially need to work with, but here come prodding along the chic MacBook from Apple, it just blows me away on how Apple is able to price such a beauty at such an affordable price! In the market that is yet to be a mainstream Wintel notebook that has such great looks and such speed at such an affordable price. I just amazes me argh I so want to get one! With bootcamp I can run windows on this baby as well. heck even Linux. I wonder how the Wintel market is going to fight back at this price.

Well people you guys are now proven wrong, a Mac is not necessarily expensive to own, look at it, it’s placed before you, you can now own the best of both worlds, a PC and a Mac, of course I would prefer the Mac. I guess this is the time when I would probably take the plunge! 2GHZ core duo! Woo Hoo!

MacBook

Here is the little beauty in all the glory, so nice in white, I do not think I’ll pay more for the black version just because it is black. Finally somehthing that’s not so hard on the pocket yet totally cool. Unless the MacBook Pro is more affordable this this is the best I can get for myself.

Pros:

  • Nice looking case
  • Fastest Core Duo Processor on the Market that runs OSx and Windows XP
  • Easy to upgrade hard disk and ram compartments
  • Magsafe

Cons:

  • Small screen, quite pretty darn small if I should say, I’m guessing it to look like a 12″ standard display.

A phone brand that I used to use, did a collaboration with Aston Martin, you just got to love the sound that their engines reverberates through your soul and yes if you should know the pretty looks of the car and I should say one of the most beautiful cars money can buy. Aston has a long british history and Nokia has always been associated with class and fashion, I do not wish to comment on functionality and reliablity. The Aston probably last longer.

Anyway the new phone is a collaborated effort with a laser engraved Aston Martin logo in the front keypad cover of the phone and included is a special James Bond ringtone (no surprise as the Aston Martin was the car of choice for the next bond show), also the beautiful sound of the V8 Vantage engine roaring, nice Aston Martin wallpapers, words power and beauty etched on the deskstand. Yupz and that’s about it, pirce wise it as whooping GBP £800. 800 quids for a freaking phone with an etching of Aston Martin logo, indeed this is for the true blue Aston Martin fans who can afford the car. Anyway if you would like to know more check out

Got a copy of this game from Play-Asia.com have not really tried it yet because I am just so busy getting my J2EE program done, only watch the into and I should say the art work is really good, what you should expect from Square-Enix. Anyway the stuff came in the mail as usual, 2nd time doing shipping from Play-Asia :) and I should say their service is quite good, IMO cause they tell you exactly when they ship you parcel etc etc. Anyway here are some pics of my new game.

Found out a website with a pretty interesting flash game, it’s about testing the speed of your finger. How fast can you press that key within 10 seconds? My record is 100 times with 1 single finger, and if you must know it is the middle finger. :P But if you use two fingers I can do about 118 times. It’s fun but tiring hehee… also boosts your ego. Try not to do this in the office kinna attracts a lot of attention. LOLx.

Aparently there are posts in the Hardwarezone forums with regards to a speed increase in the broadband service MaxOnline 2000 by Singapore based provider Starhub. It seems that a restart of the modem will yeild a 2x increase in bandwidth from about 1.8 Mbps to 3.6 Mbps (Mbps = Megabits per second). After some tests from various subscribers it seems that only some areas are affected. But mine is not, to test your connection these following steps should be carried out.

Start up starhub web utilities, you reqire Java Run Time Environment which can be downloaded from http://java.sun.com

1) Launch Starhub Web Utilities,

2) Note down the speed and restart your modem, some have a power button, for some you would need to disconnect and reconnet the power cable. (Stupid old modem)

3) Launch Starhub Web Utilities again,

If you see a speed increase from about 1.8 Mbps to 3.6 Mbps you got a free upgrade. If not just pray you do get one in the Future, I’m waiting for mine and I’m waiting for the damn broadband prices to go down, sorry Starhub I do not need your other “free” stuff, I just want better connection.

Motorola launching a new software called MotoSensor, helps prevent you from crashing into stuff while you text go check it out quite interesting find. Suppose to work like a car sensor allowing you to know if there are sutff in front of you. Check it out!

There is an update for the Dopod PPCs for the unstable active sync

  1. P100
  2. 900
  3. 838
  4. 818pro

The update makes the active sync more stable then previously when there are times that the thing does not want to sync, Dopod owners can head to http://www.dopodasia.com and download the patch to be installed on the PPC device.

Credit to Rahjinoh for pointing out the patch.

Okay, it’s official, I’ve handed in the handset back to Starhub. Congrads on your launch of i-mode in Singapore. Personally it was a better experience then WAP although I could do just as much through wap or perhaps not.

Personally I did not really need i-mode partially because I did not make use of majority of the services that was offered. I guess those who dabble in stocks and shares and need information on the go would find this service very useful.

The decision was made when i-mode did not really allow me to value add to my life. I dun really catch movies as much ever since the movies became a money laudering firm. It’s almost 10 bucks for 2 hours of tikam. Tikam because you would never know if the show is to your liking, you pay almost 10 bucks, sit in a theatre and then hope that the movie was as good as the critics say it is. Hahaha, back to the topic, I guess it just felt good that I was one of the choosen hundreds to be involved in this launch.

Currently I’m holding on to a Dopod 900 which suits my lifestyle better, wireless Internet access is great and I get to work on the move. With 3G and a host of features it’s big but the funtionally out weighs the size and weight.

Yah and I had a friend who was also invovled in the trail and they screwed up on his orders. 1 was a flower from i-mode online florist and another from the cinema vendor. Imagine dating your GF and your flowers arrive a day late and the cinema which you suppose to have booked seats for did not have your booking.

Cheers and hope your i-mode services continue to evolve and become better to add value to your subscribers.

Ok I did not bother to scour the local sites for invites this year probably because it did not really interest me in getting a 360 until it gets more stable. Probably buy a PS3 or a Revolution first before I go get something else. Sour grapes perhaps but seriously after a PS2 and Xbox with them lying there and having no time to play I guess it would be more prudent to stay away.

Where is my invite???

Wonder how it would be like :) Anyway congrad to all those who went and buy their Xbox 360 enjoy and have a wonderful evening.

Was looking for a CD burning program for my company today because we only have one Nero disc that came with the burner and somehow it’s missing, so I went online to find something that was Open source, somehow I stumbled on this wonderful little program called CDBurner XP.

In a nutshell CDBurner XP Pro is a FREEWARE, for this kind of applications it’s quite rare you can find something that is FREE. The best part about this application is that it does not give you the cheap feeling of being Free, it’s actually pretty darn good if you should ask me. I felt right at home when I saw the interface. Similar to Nero, as well as easy to use.

You are presented with 3 options at the start of the application:

  1. Burn ISO CD/DVD
  2. Burn audio CD
  3. Rip Audio CD

Really cool part is the ripping, quite hard to find a decent Ripper for free. Anyway if you’re interested please check it out at  www.cdburnerxp.se
