Embarrasing moments or really bad fashion sense.

The Charge-On-Entitlement (COE) prices in Singapore are getting really low CAT A from $15,309 to $11,991. So low in fact that cars are getting cheaper. But the question is are we getting what we are asking for? We are paying $48,000 for a decent car now. So here we save about $12,000 from the previous cost of $60,000 for a car. We are happy about that yes? Of course we are, now everybody can afford to drive. But now the LTA is faced with a predicament. Lower the COE where the money come from to meet quota? Now the every guy and gal can have a bao bei car. So what now? Easy charge you to take care of your Bao Bei.

Ok we have a Everyday-Rob-People (ERP) or soon to be everyday now Monday to Saturday only but still can consider everyday lar if you cashcard below 5 dollar they will start to tell you time to pay NETS machine a visit already. Oh this is the consideration, imagine you work in ERP zone and everyday from my collegue say he pay $4 or was it more? We take it as $4. So we month work about 20 – 25 days we take the lower value of 20 days. So we start a simple calculation.

ERP charge $4/day (Approximate, should be more since go meeting etc etc)

Working days/mth 20

Total charge $80/mth

Over 1 year $80 x 12

$960 / year

Over 10 years = $960 X 10 = $9,600!!!

So now we pay the installment to LTA not to the bank, I think the banks should be quite pissed off now cause they cannot earn the interest, all of it goes to LTA now. More cars mean more people park/park illegally and more of these more parking pontianak (From Dim Sum Dollies, not I think one) means more fines, more fines means more revenue! So is it true that COE is down? Yah it’s true but on the other hand got fine print that says to those potential car owner. COE does not include ERP charges and Fines At least when the COE was high you return the car still have an amount of cash to get back now with the ERP you just pay and never see the cash returns.

P.S. : Latest just in, with so many “signboards” all over. I think ERP should change to Everywhere Rob People. < -.->“

You Are 50% Boyish and 50% Girlish

You are pretty evenly split down the middle – a total eunuch.
Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes.
You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don’t actively fight them.
You’re just you. You don’t try to be what people expect you to be.

Apple needed a way to move into the flash based player market and do it cheap. So they came up with the suuffle, production cost is low, component cost is low. Look at the shuffle, it was probably designed with pieces of lego and then put into production. I must say Apple indeed has pulled off a profit making Market research.

Once Apple build ground and foundation that people are ready to adopt flash based MP3 players with huge memory storage, coutesy of Samsung. They created the little wonder and marvelous piece of couture. This time round they are breaking the barriers and conceptions. A 4gb MP3 player for $438 is a good price espicially when you pay for fashion as well as technology.

In any sense, the shuffle sold a lot more then the Creative counter part. It’s a losing battle, Apple with 9mths of head time. The war would be well over before Creative or any other MP3 manufacturers can come out with weaponary for this war. We can only wait and see what happens till then I’ll just continue to enjoy the slick nano.

Are we becoming more and more pseudo Jap? Girls in Singpore are starting to wear shorter and shorter skirts. It’s becoming like a thrend of short skirts. More eye candy for the guys, more temptation for guys, yeah you may say: “you can see but dun touch mar!” but in the first place why allow for such feelings.

In the past there used to be either wear or do not wear. As in you either wear clothes, or go to the swimming pool in your swimming costume. Now there is wear, semi-wear and do not wear. It kind of defeats the purpose of wearing when one wears so little. Imagine a short skirt barely covering your bottom cost your $89 bucks. What the heck! With $89 I can go get or do so many things like get a nice skirt ( of reasonable length ) and have a nice meal, drink a nice cuppa coffee.

But after all this said, I’m just a guy and perhaps it’s just eyecandy to me. I really will not know how a girl thinks after all.

What does it all mean? Well basically the phrase provocative impulse needed to make an unwanted, unneccessary purchase (copyright RahJinoh) is when you make a purchase when the item is not needed but still make purchases of the product/service. This form of impluse can come from various sources.

  • Friends : Some Singaporeans have the “you buy then I buy lah!” mentality, where when one party is interested in the product fails to see justification of making a purchase unless another friend does so.
  • Advertisements : Singapore news papers have the tendency to place ads with large pictures of unnecessary items with the price printed in large fonts making one feel the impulse to make that purchase.
  • Clearance Sales : Around some parts in Singapore there are shops that place the words, Clearance sales which says last 3 days but in actual fact what they mean is last 3 months.
  • Buy 1 get 1 free : The Buy 1 get 1 free phenomenon is one quite commonly know method to get people to make these unwanted purchases as well. Free always triggers an impluse in people that make them think less the word free seems to be a thought suppressent
  • MLM : Most of the time makes one feel that the item is good for you, making one disturb/irritate friends to make the same unecessary/unwanted purcashes as they did, weak minds tend to succumb to the pressure of their hardsell tatics.
  • California Fitness : 1 word, hardsell. Make one feel fat and unglam then tell you how one should manage their time and life so that they can look good and keep fit.

There are many more examples of these sale tactics/influences that make us want to make purchases so are you are a victim of “the provocative impulse needed to make an unwanted, unneccessary purchase”? Damn so what am I going to buy today?

After just 3 months in the working world, earning a small wage. I found the good things about working for people and of course the down side. Ultimately I think my goal in life is to find something and make something that I can call mine. I’ve been dreaming since the age of 15 to start up my own business. It has been 10 bloody years and I have not been able to do anything. My niche is not in programming, I have been there tried that and yes there are people that are better then me in doing up a program in all the blue, yellow, red, green text that fills the screen each day as I put down lines after lines of uncomprehensible numbers and text so that only one screen utimately appears.

English on the other hand seems to be my forte but I have neglected it and I have not made progress in this language although I have all the while been able to easily grasp english terms and concepts. I need to come to terms with who I am even if it means that I will not take home a hefty pay to support myself but I need to look beyond the luxuries of life and sorts. Why should I deny my abilities and force myself into the “social can”. Worrying so much about running a business or a job will not help much it’s all about fixing problems as I would like to say Life is a problem, how do you solve it?

Until then programming will be a make money thing for me and not something that I really want to do in life. Looking at the screen all time time a incomprehensible language will do me no good.
