Things I like, I like toys, gadgets and anything cute!

Wow, that’s all I can say about the M1 3G broadband service, It’s cool, imagine internet everywhere and anywhere. I do not really mind the cost at least the coverage is better then the Wireless @ SG. So I’m writing this blog post and sending the message via the 3G networks.

Well now at least I know that I can access the Internet where I want and when I want. But I’m not sure if I should continue to use the 3G service via my DoPod or make use of the Vodafone Mobile Connect Modem with my Mac. Oh for the Mac users the file to run it off your pretty MacBook Pros and Macs is available @ the Vodafone Site.

A phone brand that I used to use, did a collaboration with Aston Martin, you just got to love the sound that their engines reverberates through your soul and yes if you should know the pretty looks of the car and I should say one of the most beautiful cars money can buy. Aston has a long british history and Nokia has always been associated with class and fashion, I do not wish to comment on functionality and reliablity. The Aston probably last longer.

Anyway the new phone is a collaborated effort with a laser engraved Aston Martin logo in the front keypad cover of the phone and included is a special James Bond ringtone (no surprise as the Aston Martin was the car of choice for the next bond show), also the beautiful sound of the V8 Vantage engine roaring, nice Aston Martin wallpapers, words power and beauty etched on the deskstand. Yupz and that’s about it, pirce wise it as whooping GBP £800. 800 quids for a freaking phone with an etching of Aston Martin logo, indeed this is for the true blue Aston Martin fans who can afford the car. Anyway if you would like to know more check out

There is an update for the Dopod PPCs for the unstable active sync

  1. P100
  2. 900
  3. 838
  4. 818pro

The update makes the active sync more stable then previously when there are times that the thing does not want to sync, Dopod owners can head to http://www.dopodasia.com and download the patch to be installed on the PPC device.

Credit to Rahjinoh for pointing out the patch.

Okay, it’s official, I’ve handed in the handset back to Starhub. Congrads on your launch of i-mode in Singapore. Personally it was a better experience then WAP although I could do just as much through wap or perhaps not.

Personally I did not really need i-mode partially because I did not make use of majority of the services that was offered. I guess those who dabble in stocks and shares and need information on the go would find this service very useful.

The decision was made when i-mode did not really allow me to value add to my life. I dun really catch movies as much ever since the movies became a money laudering firm. It’s almost 10 bucks for 2 hours of tikam. Tikam because you would never know if the show is to your liking, you pay almost 10 bucks, sit in a theatre and then hope that the movie was as good as the critics say it is. Hahaha, back to the topic, I guess it just felt good that I was one of the choosen hundreds to be involved in this launch.

Currently I’m holding on to a Dopod 900 which suits my lifestyle better, wireless Internet access is great and I get to work on the move. With 3G and a host of features it’s big but the funtionally out weighs the size and weight.

Yah and I had a friend who was also invovled in the trail and they screwed up on his orders. 1 was a flower from i-mode online florist and another from the cinema vendor. Imagine dating your GF and your flowers arrive a day late and the cinema which you suppose to have booked seats for did not have your booking.

Cheers and hope your i-mode services continue to evolve and become better to add value to your subscribers.

Ok I did not bother to scour the local sites for invites this year probably because it did not really interest me in getting a 360 until it gets more stable. Probably buy a PS3 or a Revolution first before I go get something else. Sour grapes perhaps but seriously after a PS2 and Xbox with them lying there and having no time to play I guess it would be more prudent to stay away.

Where is my invite???

A bit of the inside.

Wonder how it would be like :) Anyway congrad to all those who went and buy their Xbox 360 enjoy and have a wonderful evening.

We had a thanksgiving dinner at Azabu Sabo, this is a nice new place at Marina Square. Well lit and nicely decorated, which gave somewhat a modern oriental feel to the place.

The shop serves Japanese food with great looking deserts that taste just as well. Quite a night of fun and getting to know people even as we tucked into the food. Taste was pretty decent and the ingredients were fresh. But as a dessert freak, or somewhat dessert freak their desserts were the stars of the show. What I really liked was a dessert that consist of red beans, mochi and green tea ice cream. All these 3 simple ingredients just blended nicely into a great dessert anyway enough chatter take a look at some pictures.

Was going through the papers today to see the starhub promotion on the Xbox 360, it was pretty ridiculous if you should tell me. The reason being that the Xbox 360 comes in 2 flavours. The CORE system and the PREMIUM sets. So what’s all the hoo haa with the Xbox 360 that Starhub is offering.

1st of all I have to freaking top-up $299 for

  • Xbox 360™ Core System
  • Kameo: Elements of Power
  • 64MB Memory unit
  • 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription
  • 10% OFF MaxOnline monthly subscription

What’s so great about that? $299, FYI dudes a new CORE system cost SG$535 and I do not need your Game, Memory Unit or your 12 months subscription! Why can’t you guys get it right?

Here is what I guess we want to see. The XBOX 360 Premium/Pro system. It costs $660 SGD and it’s less then what you guys throw in all the games and memory card. This sucks, and Xbox promos run for a long time. I think it’s about time I reviewed my house Broadband policy and think about doing a switch. With all the buggers getting onto MaxOnline it’s starting to look like MaxOffline.

  • Console
  • Hard Drive
  • Wireless Controller
  • Xbox Live Headset
  • Component HD AV Cable
  • Ethernet Cable

HD AV cable! That’s important also, argh it kinna stinks but what’s the point. Anyway I feel it’s about time that broadband prices get reviewed, it’s reaching critical mass in Singapore and more and more are getting on the bandwagon. I do not get the speeds I use to get, in fact it’s getting slower and I wonder if one day I’ll be back on 56KBps and not feel a difference, BUT I’m still paying the same prices, wats up with that?

Starhub Promotion?

Think I’ll wait out for the PS3, does not pay to be an early adopter anyway end of the day no matter how fancy your system looks it’s just a system. Not like it’s gonna win you an award or anything.

There is a new Nintendo DS, did not really do a redesign on the guy but it looks smaller and a little cooler. I wonder if there will be added functions or just a physical upgrade. But I highly doubt there there will be any change in the functions. I wonder if this is going to be another Gameboy Advance SP? Just a facelift and better screen control.

What do you guys make of the line above? My friend actually intepreted it as I’m earning $3,400 per mth. Actually yeah that’s what I’ll probobaly earn later in my life, but for not it’s not the case. I’ll need to stinge and save about $500/mth so that I can aquire a mac, but MacOS X is going to run on Intels and it’s already doing that.

Check out OS X86 Project

If MacOSx does eventually run on the many Intel machines all over the world, perhaps I should just wait for the OS.

A friend of mine recently commented that Windows, Vista is going to change the way I look at MacOS X, I wonder why. Perhaps Vista is really going to be the next big thing, but I heard the basic requirements for install Vista is at least 1GB of ram and 8GB of harddisk space. What the heck is there in the Operating System? I still remember the good old days of dos when you would only need a disk to contain the whole operating system. So what’s up with all the requirements?

Anyway the main point that I wanna say is, Christa I dun earn $3,400 / mth, so dun wah. :P

Been considering for the last decade if I should go switch over to Mac or not. It’s been a teenage dream, from the time my friend won a iMac (1st Gen) till the Powerbooks, Apple has need failed to impress me with their stream line design and pretty OS. Windoze looks primitive to me. But it’s been serving me well because well I grew up with it.

I’m not very well versed in Linux, and I’m quite the looks person and did not really like Xwindows.

Mac recently moved over to Intel and some have reported being able to run OSX 10.4.3 off a Intel machine already. I guess it’s just waiting for the right time, here is someone’s article on switching to Mac.

Just did an upgrade of my Starhub plan and got myself a new phone. After much consideration of getting a Pocket PC phone I finally took the plunge after waiting since O2 Xda -> Xda IIs-> O2 mini. But I never did get an O2 product, end of the day I got myself the Dopod 900. It’s nice but it’s big, recess out a little so as to accomodate the swivel on the phone. But nevertheless it’s now in my posession, heh!

The phone here cost $1,888 and I really do not get how come it’s so expensive when you can get the same thing in the UK for about 800 or so less and even buying this off the shelf in Taiwan it’s like $1,6XX range. Anyway it’s just darn expensive for a PDA and a phone but taking into consideration it’s integrated and that I got a pretty good offer, I went ahead and got it.

Been using it for a week now, a nice change but making calls seem to be a hinderance especially when you feel like you are holding a brick to your ear. The audio output is clear and nice. I like the PPC features as well and it really does feel very different from when I was using a Palm. My schedules are more organized and I know where I need to go, what I need to do and when I need to do what. The image quality is pretty decent for a phone, not the best but much better then the Nokia I was holding, good riddance. Hope I do not have to go back to using Nokia again. The ringtones are particually loud for this phone as well due to the two little speakers at the side much like a laptop and what is cool is that the keyboard illuminate according to the ambience. Well the phone is great for now, wonder what will come out in the future, till then I’ll just wait while I enjoy this little masterpiece.

I’ve been on the following service providers during my lifetime.

  • Teleview
  • Singnet dialup
  • Pacific Internet dialup
  • Singnet ADSL Magix
  • Starhub MAXonline

My contract with Starhub is about over and now with more and more broadband plans in the market I wonder if it is time to switch over. So many things to consider if I go over to Singnet ADSL broadband. Imageine I have to check the telephone line, the microfilters etc etc. Cable is so much easier, plug and play. But I think I just wait till Sitex to see what they have to offer as during exibitions is when they provide the best offers to the customers. I heard that Singnet ADSL 1.5Mbps is having an offer for 36mths contract, and they are giving a $900 bucks Best Denki voucher. Lets see how Starhub will counter offer. 1 more week to the exibition and 1 more week to the end of my contract!
